The Tai Chi beginner’s course starts at The Adventure Scout Hall Kensington Road, Southchurch, in Southend on Monday 13th September 2010. The course is designed to help all who attend, regardless of age or ability, to find the energy balance that is drained by the pressures of living, in order to defend against stress and our modern lifestyles. The eight week course will show how to combat these enemies naturally as well as how to balance and improve our well being by maintaining health naturally and enjoy a more wholesome outlook. Relax the natural way.

             The Course includes deep breathing for relaxation, Chi Kung, as well as the familiar gentle exercises of Tai Chi which, not only fortify the mind body and spirit but gently ease and strengthen the joints and muscles as well fortifying the immune function. This can relieve aches and pains as well as maintaining flexibility for the old and young alike. The mind body and spirit are better fuelled by natural methods of energising and not by chemical fixes or drugs. This is where Tai Chi is supreme because it harmonises the chi, life force, internally. There will also be an introduction to Chinese medicine - energy massage - channel healing - balancing diet for health and or sport and meditation. The classes are kept small to make sure everybody who attends can pick up as much as possible.

            Graham Horwood runs a complementary health clinic, as well as teaching at Garon’s Leisure Centre and schools as well as special needs students.

 

Loose clothing and flat soled shoes, socks or bare feet are suitable

Graham Horwood teaches the 'Original Yang Form' - 'Chi Kung' - 'Sword Forms' - 'Staff' & 'Spear' Forms- Pa Qua Chang & Wu Hsing I Chuan.

. Besides showing the moves with their classic interpretation, Graham explains how each area is related to health, Western & Eastern philosophy & medicine. This allows for improved health as well as centering the whole organism, being a simple effective method second to none, regardless of age, sex or culture. Graham explains fully what the internal energy of the body is, chi, where it comes from and how chi is stimulated, circulated, built and stored. This is achieved by opening the inner chi gates in a careful and controlled manner. The result will strengthen the mind and body giving rise to improved health and inner strength also enhancing the ability to handle the stress of the modern world.
For the more advanced practitioner Graham teaches the internal martial techniques based on the 'nei kung' or 'family' systems. The chi is enhanced by incorporating the chan shu jian- the silk reeling method - incorporated in the weapons and their practice.
